Mainstream purveyors of popular culture would like us to believe that the conversation regarding popular culture consists of troubled young women being chased by paparazzi, the reproductive capacity of celebrities, fights between women and of course who is getting or has recently gotten plastic surgery.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
While those images might dominate mainstream media and magazines, feminist women are pushing the envelope of popular culture in all areas in including art, tv, writing, sports, theatre, film and music.
The time has come to discuss ways to illuminate and put forward the progressive and feminist popular culture agenda that is happening all around us yet doesn’t get enough exposure.
